Beating Heart Training

Program	Description

Summit for Cardiac Surgeons	Addressing the latest developments in both surgical ablation and off-pump bypass surgery, this program engineers an intensive learning experience through a mix of didactic and hands-on learning opportunities.

Beating Heart Preceptorship	Employs didactic and OR observation for the learning of OPCAB, EVH, and post-operative patient management. Some programs include a halfday animal laboratory session for hands-on technique work.

Beating Heart Facilitation Program	Designed for those who wish to learn OPCAB in their own OR environment, BH Facilitators visit the learning surgical team and provide step-by-step guidance through each case over a 2-3 day period.

BH Hands-On Advanced Revascularization Workshop	Provides the surgeon with scrub privileges for hands-on experience in cardiac exposure, stabilization, hemodynamic maintenance, and clampless proximal anastomosis. Anesthesiologists and harvesters can also receive in-depth training through these team-oriented programs.

Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting Training

Program	Description

EVH Course	Designed for those learning basic techniques for endoscopic vein or artery harvesting. Harvesters are trained on-site by Guidant clinical experts.

EVH Preceptorship	Recently trained harvesters visit an experienced practitioner for observation of cases and further training.

EVH Hands-On Workshop	This one-week course combines didactic presentations with hands-on training. The harvester obtains scrub-in privileges to enable actual live case experience under direct supervision from a premier preceptor.

FLEX Microwave Surgical Ablation Training

Program	Description

Ablation Preceptorships	Provides the opportunity for focused peer-to-peer learning concerning both concomitant and standalone surgical ablation procedure in the OR with an experienced surgeon.

Minimally Invasive Surgical Ablation Workshop	Learn advanced, minimally invasive techniques from expert surgeon practitioners. The course includes didactic detail, hands-on lab experience, and clinical case review.
