Procedures for this Condition
Airway Stent Placement
A tiny tube known as a stent is placed to prop open the airway to help the patient breathe better and to keep it from becoming obstructed again.
Duodenal Stent Placement
A tiny tube referred to as a stent is placed to prop open an obstruction in the duodenum (first section of the small intestine) which may allow fluid and food to pass more easily and also to keep the duodenum from becoming obstructed again.
Endoscopic Biopsy
Biopsy forceps are used to remove a tissue sample in order to diagnose a suspicious area in the digestive tract.
Esophageal Stent Placement
A tiny tube known as a stent is placed at a point of narrowing or blockage to open up the esophagus to help the patient swallow or drink.
GI Dilation
A dilation balloon is used to open a narrowed area or stricture of the digestive tract to allow for better swallowing or other digestive processes.
Hypervascular Tumor Embolization
Hypervascular tumor embolization is designed to reduce or obstruct blood supply to targeted tumors. This is accomplished by injecting an embolic agent through a catheter into a selected blood vessel to block the blood supply to the tumor.
Liver and Soft Tissue Ablation
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) uses radiofrequency energy, a form of electrical current provided by electrodes, which can be used in the body to heat and destroy abnormal tissue.
Percutaneous Drainage
Percutaneous (through the skin) drainage is the image-guided placement of a catheter to provide continuous drainage of a fluid collection such as abscess fluid, the biliary system or the urinary tract.
Polyp Removal
A snare or hot biopsy forceps are used through an endoscope to remove a polyp.
Transbronchial Biopsy (TBB)
Biopsy forceps are used to retrieve a small piece of tissue from a suspicious area of the lung or airway in order to diagnose lung disease.
Transbronchial Needle Aspiration (TBNA)
Transbronchial Aspiration Needles are used to collect a tissue sample from a suspicious area of the lung or airway in order to diagnose or stage lung disease.
