PROCEDURES AND PRODUCTS
Biliary Stenting
Biliary stenting refers to the placement of a small tube (stent) when an obstruction occurs in the bile duct. A biliary stent is a plastic or metal tube that is placed in into a bile duct to reduce narrowing of the duct (also called bile duct stricture).
Carotid Artery Stenting
A small mesh, metal tube called a stent is used to reopen the blocked section of the carotid artery. It is intended to act like scaffolding to prop open the diseased section. It may prevent or slow future plaque buildup.
CryoPlasty® Therapy
CryoPlasty Therapy is a unique non-surgical therapy designed to improve the blood circulation in an artery while simultaneously treating it to inhibit restenosis. Left untreated, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) may result in leg sores that will not heal (ulcers), infection, gangrene, amputation of toes, feet or legs, or even death. PAD is a strong risk factor for a major event such as a heart attack or stroke.
Hypervascular Tumor Embolization
Hypervascular tumor embolization is designed to reduce or obstruct blood supply to targeted tumors. This is accomplished by injecting an embolic agent through a catheter into a selected blood vessel to block the blood supply to the tumor.
Liver and Soft Tissue Ablation
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) uses radiofrequency energy, a form of electrical current provided by electrodes, which can be used in the body to heat and destroy abnormal tissue.
Microsurgical Dilatation
Microsurgical dilatation is an advanced form of angioplasty that uses small blades called atherotomes to uniformly score the lesion before it is fully dilated.
Percutaneous Core Needle Biopsy
A core needle biopsy is an image-guided biopsy taken by inserting a needle through a small cut in the skin. A small core of tissue is removed for examination under a microscope for diagnosing tumors or non-cancerous conditions such as infection.
Percutaneous Drainage
Percutaneous (through the skin) drainage is the image-guided placement of a catheter to provide continuous drainage of a fluid collection such as abscess fluid, the biliary system or the urinary tract.
Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA)
PTA is most commonly used to treat narrowings in arteries due to obstructions caused by atherosclerosis (hardening of an artery due to plaque).
Peripheral Stenting
Peripheral Stenting refers to the placement of small wire mesh tubes called stents into blood vessels outside of the heart in order to improve blood flow in areas where the vessels are obstructed.
Tracheobronchial Stenting
Tracheobronchial Stenting refers to the placement of small wire mesh tubes called stents into airways that have become narrowed or obstructed (strictures).
Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a less invasive treatment option for symptomatic uterine fibroids. As an alternative to traditional surgery, UFE is intended to cut off the blood supply to the fibroids, making them shrink.
Vessel Occlusion
Vessel Occlusion is an image-guided (under x-ray), minimally invasive treatment intended to occlude (block) a blood vessel. It is performed for conditions such as hemorrhage, gastrointestinal bleeding, aneurysm, or arterial venous malformations.
