Product Information

The Prolieve Thermodilatation System consists of the Prolieve System Console, a Transurethral Microwave Catheter, a Rectal Temperature Monitor and a Heat Exchange Cartridge.

The Prolieve System catheter uses microwave heating to reduce the enlarged prostate tissue and improve urine flow. In addition to microwave heating, the catheter includes a compression balloon that expands and compresses prostatic tissue.

The Temperature Monitor measures the rectal wall temperature at three points.

• Dual-action thermodilatation technology heats and dilates the prostatic urethra
• Computer-controlled transurethral microwave heat is delivered directly to the prostate
• Circulated water flows through the thermodilitation balloon in the urethra
• A single-visit outpatient procedure
• Procedure is performed in a physician's office
• There is no anesthesia required
• The procedure is minimally invasive in men for whom drug therapy is typically indicated
• Eighty-two percent (82%) of patients do not require post-treatment catheterization. (Results based on pivotal clinical trial, 140 patients treated.)
